Wilber Lareus was born in Tolú, in the department of Sucre, Colombia. His passion for photography began in Barranquilla, the city that adopted him and where he currently resides. Lareus has undertaken numerous trips around the country that, among other things, allowed him to begin the search for his roots, history, and what he calls "knowing the backyard." Within his work, the most important value is the origin and legacy of Colombia's black communities, which he has portrayed and represented during the most recent years of his career.
