Mother

I dream that the strength of their struggles will be recognized
and I keep hoping that a new world will open before their eyes
so that the chauvinist hand does not point to them,
Call them out or shoot them down.
Hopefully we, the sons and daughters,
understand that life is in them,
and their forgetfulness is a sacrifice that is not obligatory,
and less so if it's for others.
Because they owe us nothing,
nothing was denied to us,
instead, they put their bodies at the service of building a nation that failed to save a place for them.
And we have not echoed their revolution
nor their silence.
We are accomplices, every man and woman, in their pain.
Meanwhile or forever,
our punishment is to give us death with life.
